koransakti.co.id – Each year, the announcement of the “Color of the Year” from major paint brands sets the tone for interior design trends. This time, paint giant Benjamin Moore has officially revealed its highly anticipated pick for 2026: an elegant shade named Silhouette (AF-655).
Described as “an alluring mix of rich espresso hues with subtle notes of charcoal,” this color perfectly captures the essence of the prevailing quiet luxury style.
Inspired by Fashion and Classic Suiting
The selection of Silhouette was heavily influenced by the world of fashion. Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore’s Director of Color Marketing and Design, explained that the team observed a renewed interest in suiting, classic silhouettes, and the resurgence of the brown color family.
“Silhouette embodies these qualities with its depth and luxurious blend of burnt umber and delicate charcoal undertones,” Magno stated. “Like a perfectly tailored suit, this hue has the versatility and softness to bring a space from expected to exceptional.”
A Harmonious Supporting Palette
To complement Silhouette, Benjamin Moore also unveiled the Color Trends 2026 palette, featuring seven other shades: Raindance, Swiss Coffee, First Crush, Batik, Narragansett Green, Southwest Pottery, and Sherwood Tan. These colors were curated for their ability to layer effortlessly, creating a sophisticated feel.
More Than Just a Yearly Trend
Hannah Yeo, Benjamin Moore’s color and design expert, revealed the selection process takes nearly a full year, drawing inspiration from diverse design disciplines, cultural influences, and global economic shifts.
While celebrated for 12 months, the chosen color must also possess longevity. “We know the reality,” Yeo said. “We know that it needs to live for about five to seven years into the future.”
Silhouette marks a shift from the vibrant post-pandemic colors (like 2023’s Raspberry Blush and 2024’s Blue Nova) towards calmer, more neutral, and mature tones, aligning perfectly with the modern interpretation of quiet luxury.
Versatile Application
The beauty of Silhouette lies in its flexibility. It can be used dramatically on all walls, as an elegant accent, or even on the ceiling. The shade can subtly shift its mood depending on the natural light throughout the day.
“It really brings in that sophisticated touch to a space,” Yeo explained. “Whether it be a smaller dose or really going onto the ceiling… it’s really limitless.”
